What is Spiritualism?

Let me start with a quote from the Spiritualists’ National Union:

“Spiritualism doesn’t tell you what you should believe or how you should interpret religious philosophy. We have no books that must be followed, we have no preachers whose word must be obeyed”

Modern Spiritualism is not prescriptive. It is simply the proof of survival. It is one of the most comforting belief systems I have ever encountered and embraces a wide range of world-views. Spiritualism does however embrace a single concept:

Spiritualists believe that every human soul survives bodily death and that these souls continue to exist within the spirit world. They are present in our lives, surrounding us with care and love.

Under the right conditions, usually through mediums such as myself, communication and connection can be made with the souls of our departed loved ones.

The core philosophy of Spiritualism in the UK is described in the Seven Principles. These are the concepts of philosophy, science and religion that underpin what we do and how we do it.

As a Spiritual medium, I know that I am very blessed. I also want you to understand that the person who loved you in the human, material world loves you still; the spirits with whom I communicate on others’ behalf tell me this. They still engage with us. It’s good to know, even in the raw stages of grief, that loss is only temporary. Love is stronger than death. You will see them again.
